About EditingWiz

Welcome To EditingWiz

Faiza Hussain, PhD

I am a Scientist by training with a PhD in Biochemistry from the Ivy League of the South, Rice University. And a writer by choice. Before I was a writer, I was an avid reader—my eclectic taste in reading ranged from the musings of Rumi and Gibran to the psychological conundrums of Dostoevsky.

There is an ever-evolving method to the madness of writing; I am a perennial student constantly learning to improve on the different forms of writing I engage in through online courses (like Google Digital Marketing Certification) to informal conversations with writers from diverse backgrounds.

Where others see fragmented bullet points, I see a narrative. A visionary and a perfectionist by nature, I am a highly organized person looking to collaborate with YOU:

-Grant writing to support Scientists

-Science textbook and e-book chapters

-White papers (B2B marketing)

-Profile writing based on interviews for print and digital platforms (both academic and non-academic entities)

-Blogs and Newsletters

-Content Writing for website copy (SEO-focused with a personal touch for human readership)

-News articles on Science stories (demystifying Science for the lay audience)

-Personal statements and cover letters

Mentors’ Take

“Dr. Faiza Hussain received her PhD in 2009 at Rice University with me as her supervisor. During our years together, I realized quickly that Dr. Hussain had great communication skills, especially with respect to academic writing. We published several high-profile articles together; Dr. Hussain played a prominent role in writing all the manuscripts, which surpassed that of most graduate students.”

Member, Nobel Committee for Chemistry

“I was Dr. Hussain’s Thesis Committee Chair, and we spent significant time discussing her science and her career aspirations throughout her time at Rice. I read early drafts for her thesis (after her advisor left Rice) and provided my minimal input, since her writing even then was clear, concise, and comprehensive. Able to grasp complex systems, see and articulate that complexity without missing important details, Dr. Hussain takes the multiple pieces of the puzzle that science always presents and assembles them into a coherent and comprehensive picture.”

Prof. Kathleen S. Matthews

Dean, Wiess School of Natural Sciences

“Faiza Hussain was one of the best postdocs I have ever had. She is not only a hard-working, first-rate scientist but also a great communicator and writer. While she worked for me, Faiza wrote several notable papers and grants and her attention to detail and clarity of thought made each one a success. Her combination of intellectual ability and rhetorical skills are very rare, indeed.”
